Sylvia and I were snowed in under more than a foot of snow today. As you see by these photos, she had a lot of fun plowing through great clouds of snow. We will run around a lot more tomorrow. Just thinking about it all is making her tired. Luckily we didn't have to go to the vet today. The vet wants to brush her teeth (expensive!). I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. In the meantime, Sylvia is peacefully snoring on her bed nearby as the wind howls outside and great gusts whip all around us.
Anchored to the shore, we built snowmen
It's ALIVE! Well, our snowman wasn't quite complete at this point, but I had to demonstrate our plan for Sylvia.
Meghan and Sylvia, just hangin' out with Gonzo...
We also explored the mysterious and windy Rockland. Sylvia chased after a ship in the harbor, but only came trotting back with this anchor. We couldn't fit it in the car, so we had to get a picture to prove it to you.

Happy (belated) Birthday Sylvia!
Sylvia was so happy to get her new bone, she didn't even notice the hat, I don't think. In fact, she seems to like the hat, also. Sylvia is a very happy dog!Meghan helps Sylvia open her presents on her birthday morning. I am sure she would bark enthusiastically to the generous admirers who gave her gifts!
She and Meghan have become great friends, too.
Running in the blizzard
Sylvia and I have been running out into great clouds of snow. Here is a short series of photos from that last great blizzard of 2010, in December.Sunday, December 26, 2010
Christmas weekend, definitely worth barking about
Well, here we are in the granite state. As I type this, a blizzard blows clouds of snow outside in Maine, but on Christmas morning in New Hampshire we could still rustle through the leaves on the ground and hear squirrels scamper up the trees.
Sylvia needed a little help with her present...

| Sylvia and Sunny barked up a storm, wore each other out |
While Sylvia wrestled with her new toy, Sunny watched from a safe spot. Not exactly sure who was in charge, both dogs barked to match the other.
See the marina by the water there, behind Sylvia?
It was used in a movie a long time ago, "On Golden Pond". Summer is bustling, but the off-season is most beautiful. Sylvia seemed curious and happy to trot around, even in spite of the windy cold. These New Hampshirites are funny. I thinck we'll have to come back.

travel down boot lane
We got close to six inches of snow, which Sylvia gleefully leaped through first thing this morning. The snow was powdery and she didn't seem to have any problem trotting through it, though her belly brushed the surface in the deeper spots.
We also explored along the Sheepscot River late in the day, as the pale sun dipped below the horizon.
She found some interesting sniffs along the river bank, but quickly hopped back into the car. It was getting cold.
The day was partly sunny. Sylvia and I explored boot lane and sniffed around there for a bit. We met some dogs, briefly, and hung out with friends.
Tomorrow we will travel to the wilds of New Hampshire. More sniffs, sights and experiences await for a Christmas on "Golden Pond".

As you can see, Sylvia doesn't leave my side for a minute. Not even for a slide down the hill.

(seen Santa anyone?)
